Isnt money the biggest reason these companies make games?

"yes because of money, but I hope not". I didn't say they wouldn't make diablo 4. They will. It'll be profitable and only reason for a company to exists is to make as much money to its owners as possible.

Another question is how many crap games can they sell under the name of Diablo before people refuse to buy it only because of the name.

I dunno if they would do this. People bought Diablo 3 because of Diablo 2

If we follow this example no one would buy Diablo 4 because of of Diablo 3.

Dont think its a question of if they are going to launch D4, more like when..
But, it could be in 2 years, or 10..



as far as i know, a lot of people enjoyed playing Diablo 3.
So by that example, a lot of people will buy Diablo 4

The vast majority didn't enjoy d3.

I say didn't because most have quit. But I guess you could also say don't.

well.. Most people tried it, got everything they wanted (best gear and what not), quitted
But thats how 99% of all games works.
you complete the objective(final mission/boss or best gear or something else?) -> get bored -> quit

It could still have been an entertaining game ^^
and imo D3 have been entertaining but it is boring now.
So, I think D4 will be a succes when they decide to make it

edit:
I get that people think that Diablo is all about trading and PvP
and I get that they changed that, but I've never been a PvP guy. So for me it doesnt really matter if the PvP aspect is broken in the game.
And 80% of trading is just about who got the most bots and the best scripts. and the last 20% is people actually playing the game and selling/buying stuff.

Most rpgs don't work that way.

example? pretty much all the most popular games work that way (atleast those I can think of atm.)
