Diablo III is fine... but:
- The brand is huge, the Diablo series has been around for almost 20 years or so, and Blizzard has tons of money
- The game took forever to develop, and I believe there was a Diablo 3 which got scrapped at one point many years ago
- Bud Light isn't known as a great beer. The brand is worth a ton, and they continue to sell really well. Same thing with Diablo III. Unlike Diablo I and Diablo II, Diablo III is shit... but that doesn't really mean it didn't sell well.
- You can get caught up playing the game for hundreds of hours over time, but that doesn't mean it's really fun. It's the same as gambling. Addiction is not the same as genuine fun...
I could go on...
If you pick up the title for $60 and play it through just for the content, the game is kind of shit. The storyline is a grind, it's not rewarding, and once you set the title aside you'll want your money back. If you pick up the game and you want to take part in some online grinding for say... 50-100 hours of your time, before you set the game aside... then it's sort-of worth it... but again, you'll likely quit because you realize the game is shit. And if you play the game for closing in on 1000 hours, or more, then you're an addict, and you're an idiot. So I guess... any which way, the game is a disappointment. It's a trap.
