Are there actually BREAKPOINTS for attack speed in D3 like there were in D2?
As in where if you are between two BPs, additional attack speed is useless until you actually achieve the next breakpoint?
Or are you just using this 39% to hit your preferable range?
there aren't break points but there are points of diminishing returns. sure you can go for higher APS. I can probably hit 3 APS if i wanted to with witching hour and cains, but the amount of damage that i gain is very minimal compared to the amount of toughness i lose.
for example, i actually picked up a legacy WH right after i posted this. i actually lost 1m toughness, and gained an additional 100k dps. because of the asi on the belt, i've been able to move around the attack speed on some other items to get me an additional 2.5m toughness without losing damage.
there's also the argument of " what will 2.5 APS get for me other than 25% faster hatred regen?" at 2 aps i can go EA > CA > CA for full CTW damage, rinse repeat. 2.5 APS doesn't even gain me an additional CA because you still need to re-ES or -EA after the second CA. now the faster hatred regen is relevent for regular CA demon hunters. CA IS their damage dealer.
there's also the point of average damage will overall add more damage than ASI if you roll it on your rings/ammy, if you don't care for the additional toughness.
it's not as necessary here. the krider DH doesn't have to focus on that all in cluster arrow setup because it has a good damage dealer in its primary generator.
