Click the gear and join it manually. All they did was remove the horrible idea of auto joining.

I've tried that (it just to be the way for me to start talking in party chat before i found out about /p) there is no general chat in there either.

Maybe not the gear, its the button at the top. To join general/trade/wizard chat/ect./ect.

Unfortunately RIP...

Starcraft II, ruined the chat channels. Now they keep up with it.

Sigh... I have no idea what they were thinking creating the same deal as Starcraft II channels ( Almost ). I think Starcraft II, might be a little better actually.

Hopefully they improve it at least... They have to make it all complicated... Blah... Blah...
People don't need more complications in their life... Come on Blizzard WTF.

/f m was entirely easy. Now if I have too many friends online I have to tab and MAYBE miss the specific person/channel I want.
