Wondering about the 'Magic find in co-op games' being divided amongst all players; Is this common knowledge, or do you have an official source for this bit? I'm not challenging you're information, I just like to ensure my information is cite-able before spreading it around.

Was announced in the beta somewhere, been common knowledge since then. I just had to do thorough testing and an earlier post of mine shows my findings.

That being said; even if through horrible luck my results were wrong, it is ALWAYS recommended for every character to carry a full magic find set in their inventory at all times: for chests/last hitting champions/elites and even treasure goblins if you are quick enough

Is there an easy way to switch on MF gear for last hitting elites...? I've been running away while I frantically right click in my inventory but that seems incredibly inefficient.

this should be sticky

depends on class. in inferno it can sometimes be beneficial to kite back to a waypoint/area divide etc.

I tend to keep mine in the exact same place game after game, get fast at it, it takes me roughly 1.5 seconds - just long enough to be done during smoke screen
edit - don't forget you can ALT + click your secondary ring to save time

Do any other 1handers besides the legendarys have mf on them? It's not even a searchable attribute on the AH for 1h weapons
