No, look at Diablo 2 it's still somewhat alive after 10+ years. Is it pay to play? No.

I've said it before... but apparently people look passed logical posts.

WoW is p2p because its an MMO, and though there are MMOs that are free to play there is still a lot of maintenance in MMOs. You have to make sure everyone is getting along and fixing bugs...then you have to pay the people that are fixing said issues. Diablo 1/2 SC 1/2 are all f2p and one came out within a year ago.

Diablo 3 will not be p2p because of the fact that for each game they only have to worry about 4 TOTAL people. Trades will be done through game chat or the AH, so this really limits any confusion or hassle since Diablo is 70% killing and the other 30% is finding gear to improve killing speed. Diablo 3 is not an MMO. There was not a lot of maintenance in d2, or sc2. Look at the facts and history... they both repeat themselves. And I'm pretty sure that there aren't any (at least popular) games that aren't MMOs and are p2p.

your facts..

i

plenty of people who have opinions.. p2p doesn't mean shit for support. go play wow tell me there aren't bots. tell me that chldren aren't getting paid a dollar a day to farm gold... your logic is retarded and your "facts" aka 138 pages of thread are all just fucking stupid. I am not saying i don't want a supported game I'm just saying diablo isn't the kind of game you can charge a subscription for. They will probably end up making b.net 2.0 ptp so if you want to go online with any of their games you will have to pay but thats different. and that doesn't mean they will support it any more than they did for d2. for the record d2 was amazing and had a SOLID community at least through 1.09. (i stopped playing then) i get the feeling that the lack of community you find in d2 now is due in large part to these very forums. people got fucking lazy. the only thing that would have changed d2 if it were pay to play, is the prices of 3rd party sites. thats it.

don't even try to talk about closed minded people and saying "go read these 138 pages of posts" if you have an opinion share it, support it, but don't sit here and make up some bs or believe everything you read..

I couldnt be fucked writting this so i normally just say deal with it, thanks for explaining

So

Deal with it

You know I used to think it should be Pay to Play.
But then I thought about it, why the fuck would I try to convince myself and others that paying for this game will make the content any better?

Who WANTS to pay for a game after they pay the initial 60$?
And then who THINKS paying for a game will make the service / content / skills / and whatever else might be swimming through your head any better than it will be on release and thereafter?

I'm sorry but nobody WANTS to continually pay for any damn thing, especially a game.

I mean just really think about it.

What would you get with P2P?
- Slightly better technical help / support (and anything else that fits into the category of support)
- A monthly fee. (And yes it would be at least 10-15$)
- Connection? No.
- Content? No.
- Skills / Gems / Runes? No.
- Less Population? Yes. (Remember that this isn't an open world game.)
- Better Que'ing system? No.

Honestly the only thing I've ever known P2P to do was slightly better Tech Support, and a little better removal of botters (yet they're still abundant.)

If you want to add anything to the list that I might have left out please go for it.

This.

I selected no anyhow, since it won't be.

P2P ensures that there will be minimal regulation at the very least. No P2P gives little incentive to regulate anything.

As much as WoW is botted, if it wasn't P2P, there would be thousands more of them. P2P improves play experience, even if just by a little.

Bolded part is false. P2P = more money = more incentive to create new content for the game to make people continue paying.

P2P = content.

No, it doesn't.
You don't P2P for new expansions and they're just added into the game? No.
You separately buy those expansions, not to mention any game like this would likely fail after the first year without expansions, they wouldn't bother making a game like this without expansions planned in the future. That and the story can only go so far before it gets repetitive, or just veers completely off-course into something ridiculous.

Pay to Play garuntees no content.
