Yes it's worth playing. The game is actually so good, that people who don't even play it have had nothing better to do than talk about it since it came out.

can anyone give me a non smart ass answer? really looking to play a game while finishing up school.

if you enjoy casual rpg d3 is right up your alley. doesn't take too long to get decently geared solo playing. pretty much all characters are viable from what i hear now so your not gunna gimp yourself out of some type of play from playing the class you want.
if you enjoy nerding out over being the best, amassing tradeable loot, large player interaction this games not for you.

No bsing you. I think games is good. Im really enjoying season 5. So yeah get in on the fun man!

back when i played if i qued for public games there was like 800ish games @ max of 4 players per game i'd say around 1500-2k players play endgame pub server.

Just get the fucking game. It's obvious you want to play it but are afraid of not liking it. I've got over 2k hours and played since it came out and enjoy it very much.

If you're looking for PvP go elsewhere. If you're trying to kill lots of time, get the damn game.
