Technically in a perfect world, the more time you play D3 and the more efficiency you play it with, the higher you should be on the ladder.

However, I don't think this is the case. Luck is a large part of it too. So then, why are leaderboards taken so seriously when a lot of the game is pure luck?

Yea, but I've been playing long enough to know that gamers don't change. Plus you just admitted that clans do in fact think that way.

They matter the first month of season. Other than that you're competing against clan members/friends and see who has the most ancient pieces and highest grift

Unless you stream, leaderboards don't matter

At this point of time it has come down to who played the most hours cuz paragon levels matter.

Between 800 paragon and 1400 paragon, that's 3000 main stats points.
Say if you have average of 10k main stats at paragon 800, that's 30% damage increase at 1400 paragon not to mention the additional toughness.

Then of course luck will be main pushing factor for leaderboards. To increase your odd, fish grifts by spending more hours.
