Used to have cheap-o gear but slowly been upgrading :/

For A3 solo I had been using passives: Resolve, Seize, One with

Active: Attack w/ keen eye, Inner sanctuary (35% less dmg) , Breath of heaven (healing), Evasion (hard target), The invincibility one (healing)

Paint montage with no buffs:

use

fists of thunder - thunderclap
sweeping wind - cyclone
blinding flash - atk dmg rune
breath of heaven - atk dmg rune
mantra of evasion - backlash
serenity - duration rune

with this setup u should be able to faceroll through everything except the really really nasty elites... and those u should be able to kill with a little bit of effort.

since ur already set up to go sword/board, id say to get more dps without drastically changing everything you should look to get a shield/bracer/ammy with crit and eventually try to get a weapon with crit dmg.

if ur down to do a more drastic makeover, im sure u can get a ton of cash for just the ring and helm. then id say move away from loh entirely and get life regen gear. regen gear will be a lot cheaper and will make it so u dont need loh weapons which are ridiculously overpriced.

thx for the reply... i'm def going to give that setup a try.

i was able to collect some decent gear, but getting everything to go together for solo hasn't been the easiest

e/ tanking for my DPS friends is pretty easy though using overawe

check out dat blockage! haha.

and not sure if one above poster talkin about movin away from loh to buy life regen gear is tryin to just up the value of his life regen items so they sell higher or attempting to make loh gear cheaper by having everyone abandon it so he can buy it cheaper ......

I don't know how this build works tbh... but I set it up... and face rolled 3 a3 elites in 10-12 minutes total (0 deaths, not even close to dying). As you see in the pic my base attack is only 17.8k...

Not the toughest elites, but nice build =)

(1 bowman illusionist and 2 types of mage dudes... basically cleared stonefort in 10 min)

Don't use Sweeping Wind -> Cyclone. You only have 12.50% crit. You'll benefit more from the use of the Blade Storm rune.

If the elites aren't challenging you while you're using Mantra of Evasion - Backlash then swap to Mantra of Conviction - Overawe. You can also swap the Serenity rune to the +heal rune depending on your needs.

Passives should be Seize, Transcendence and OWE. You can opt to utilize Resolve, but with the harder elites you'll end up running/kiting quite a bit, so it loses it's power.

If he had more life per spirit Transcendence would be great. If he can regen spirit quickly as well it would be great.

By itself... meh.

There isn't really a better option though unfortunately.

Fleet Footed is alright, but not needed by any stretch. Resolve has it's quirks as I mentioned above. Guardian's Path requires DW. Sixth Sense with like ~36% can be semi-beneficial, but not really. Beacon of Ytar is a solid choice, but ultimately you'll get more support out of Transcendence. Near Death Experience is a HC thing more than anything else.

Having a 3k heal that doesn't require you to be in melee range can be a major help. He could also invest in LPSS to improve further (you can hit >10k heals on 50 spirit abilities, which is HUGE). The downside to LPSS is that monks are already affix starved and only a limited number of slots have room for "extra" affixes, and none of those slots involve slots which can contain LPSS or spirit regen.
