For 7 years 360 > PS3
The competitive platform was one aspect, but there were other issues with the PS3. First, it was the bargain console for casual gamers, because it doubled as a blu-ray and PSN was free. Being a casual console, a lot of people didn't use headsets. The social aspect was also shitty, producing fewer parties. You could make as many GTs as you wanted, so people didn't care as much about their stats, because they could always make a new GT. From what I've heard (haven't fact checked) CoD was made for xbox and then converted for PS3. I know multiple CoDs play worse on PS3. PS3 at the time also had a lot more hackers, especially on MW2. MW2 to this day plays amazing on 360.
The xbone got a bad rap at first due to peoples' illogical principles about the 'always on' feature being evil, so even though it never happened, people hold a grudge. I've had internet access virtually every single day for the last 20 years, so it was always a non-issue for me, especially since I only play multiplayer.
Both the PS4 and xbone had adapter issues, but iirc PS4 had adapter issues in regards to PVRs as well.
The xbone has since updated its interface. It's still not as user friendly as the 360, but it's leagues better than what was originally rolled out.
The games play perfectly on the xbone, so basically all the PS4 has is the competitive scene and DLC. DLC doesn't really matter anyway imo, especially any of the packs besides the first one. A lot of people get annoyed about the 1 month of mosh before it's placed in the regular rotation, but once it's finally in the rotation people get mad that they're bad at the map, so instead of trying to learn it, they end up voting it. As the game life cycle moves on, fewer and fewer people play, so the more DLC you download, the more you segregate and the fewer people you play against, making the experience sub par.
TL;DR: 360>PS3 - PS4=XBONE
