So this bothered me for some time
In a objective based PUB lobby with random ppl, like say Domination or HQ do you go around capping things or just straight for kills, or maybe both.

I certainly go for both but there are many players who ignore the objective and instead choose to sit in enemy spawn and spawntrap ppl.

This way they rack up lots n lots of frags , say in Dom in nuketown instead of capping so the enemies always spawn at base "C" and the team has their sights on them

I could say what non-objective players, esp if they are really good are still playing objectively because they are denying the enemy team of securing the objective but at the same time it feels kinda...lame

The k/d ratio stat is what honestly brought this on, not just in cod but pretty much all shooters. People think their k/d determines their skill level, even though maintaining a high w/l ratio is a lot harder and challenging to do. I maintained around a 2.1 k/d in Ghosts, but I was almost always only playing TDM with my roommate or the occasional game of SnD, where killing people is still playing the objective pretty much. In my experience, anybody that can maintain a k/d above 3 is usually just a killwhore that most likely plays dom and doesn't get one cap the entire game. W/l is what people should be aiming for. If you play with a full party of even half decent players that play the objective, you will shit on the killwhores all day though.

So are you the idiot that runs and tries to cap C while we have control of A and B because you "play the objective?" Holding A and B forcing them to constantly spawn near C is going to result in a victory with a score of 200-100... The objective is to win, not run aimlessly at Dom points until the game finishes...

Most of the time if someones killwhoring enough to have a 3:1 k/d should win anyway. Half the fucktards in pubs run at the objectives with a blindfold on.

lets say we use your scenario, nuketown domination
our team caps a/b and c is left open to the other team
fuck even if the other team has b lets get a spawn trap going
people who care about their k/d are more valuable than you think, they kill the opposition camping around enemy spawn
you then effortlessly cap b and thanks to these "non team players" you end up fucking winning anyway

so even if they don't play the objective
technically they still do

fuck you

I can't just go for kills. I start out trying to get streaks, but as soon as I die I care less and less about KDR and go for the win. I avoid games I can't backpack while playing solo though, such as domination, HQ, or HP. I can backpack SnD, TDM, KC, or FFA, although sometimes teammates are so bad that it's impossible to carry in TDM/KC, which is why I mostly just play SnD or FFA since those are the true games for backpackers.

WL > KDR ..always. Winning a close game of domination is awesome, even if I go 35-20.

I always play the objective and always will. KDR doesn't matter at all in a game like cod.
