Prolly you plugged them incorrectly.

Make sure that you have all the cables and that your TV is compatible

im using a monitor and im pretty sure it has nothing to do with that

no plugs go into the tv / monitor at all

Edit: think the optical wasnt in all the way,, idk think it was but it works now lol
