League play, what is it?

Is it like a ranked way of playing people of your own skill level (IE: matchmaking system)?

Just someone give a brief description of what this is, might want to get into it myself.

It's supposed to be a way to get people with the same skill level together.
Here are the divisions and the order

Iron -> Bronze -> Silver -> Gold -> Platinum -> Masters

Under the League Play menu, you can play Champion Series and Team Deathmatch series.
Champion Series is 4v4 objective gametypes. If you played gamebattles before, its considered the MLG Variant settings.
Game modes played are Hardpoint, Capture the Flag, and Search & Destroy.

Team Deathmatch series is just a 6v6 TDM playlist basically.

Kinda wrong, the rules they've set up are the same as ICON's tourny.

MLG varient doesn't allow flack jacket/tactical mask and many other things.

Actually, to correct you and myself, They are the rules at the moment for MLG Dallas
