It depends on which CoD. For example, on MW2 the rangers require no AIM at all, plus they 1-shot. While the AA12 is still very strong, it still requires some aim and time to kill. I also avoid using the UMP because it changes how people play when they die to it. I'm using a strong secondary in close quarters all the time, but when it's long/mid-range, I can still get away with using the vector with the added bonus that people aren't going to rage and swap to a douche class to counter me. The ACR might be a laser, but the M4A1 is just as good, plus I prefer the famas ability to 1-burst. The M16/tar/scar are good, plus even the AK hits hard..so many good guns. I don't necessarily care if I die to a remington on ghosts, but if I die to it, then it means the person is camping, and since I enjoy rushing and rushing works well in ghosts, I prefer to not use ARs that much in general.

In MW2 there was nothing OP. Like you said, so many good guns if you knew how to use them.

AW is a different story, though. There are a handful of guns that I think are clearly superior.

I'm assuming they thought that people were "bored" of the same type of game-play every year so they decided to throw a big wrench in it.

Obviously wasn't a great idea. BO3 is "advanced", too, but they are thankfully taking a few steps back.

Cod4, WaW, MW2.. I had no rules, I did what I wanted. Other Cods after that, I simply tried not using the most OP guns unless I was facing a team full of sweaty try hards... and even then I rarely did/do.

In every Cod, I like playing against the grain, which means I like trying to do well at a disadvantage. I like using the crappier assault/sub machine guns. I like using LMGs. I use shotguns/riotshield in every CoD because its fun. I like using secondaries as primaries (had diamond handguns BO2).

I play the game to have fun. Playing with the most OP guns, camping my way to high kill streaks, and only playing with good teammates in pubs is not my idea of fun.

It's just too advanced. Seems like people rely more on gadgets and equipment than actual gun/movement skill and decision making. I mean I understand trying to come up with something different, but come on. I really wanted to buy a shooter game because there aren't many games out for xbox one yet, but every time I watch a AW video, it turns me off even more.

different doesn't have to mean futuristic. I've got a solution. Call of Duty: Civil War. Fucking muskets and bayonets. It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum.....and I'm all out of gum

Your mentality doesn't really apply to BO2 though. The tac could 2-shot. BO2 pistols in general are immensely OP, plus the remington 1-shots virtually anywhere on the body, even with a silencer. Riot shielders in MW2 could be stunned and didn't have fast hands, but since they added fast swap and tac mask perks, riot shields aren't too bad, plus you can plant them in BO2. BO2 LMGs are also strong as hell, especially with thermal or a target finder. Also, considering Nuketown is like 70% of the map rotation, it's a really strong weapon option for that map.

This is the quintessential problem with the franchise. People complain that CoD is rehashed each year when it obviously isn't. When they adds new bells and whistles, it makes the game terrible. The bells and whistles are removed from competitive, but I still prefer playing pubs. I wish CoD was more like sports games tbh. They don't need to change the rules for basketball games each year.

Pistols were more OP in bo2 compared to all other call of duties, but even still, compared to smgs and other main guns, they weren't as good. The same applies to shotguns in all CoDs; you need a strategy and a certain knowledge of how to run the map when using shotguns/handguns. You cant just run around and shoot shit across the map like smgs and assault rifles. You have to learn to play the map with them and flank, or you'll lose. The only people in any CoD that you see do well with shotguns (and not camping), are those who know how to play the maps. Remmington in bo2 was moderately op, but I still used all the others just as frequently, if not more.

Riotshield in Mw2 was favorite. Mw2 had the best hit detection, so I never got shot through the riotshield like I did in all the other Cods that had riotshield (even got hit with a throwing knife in mw3 dead center when I wasn't even moving). Not to mention, commando's reach with the shield.
I never really did the plant shield/lmg technique since bo2.. it wasn't as good against good people, plus I get bored sitting in one spot too long.

Pistols destroy SMGs in close quarters. Pistols are buzzkilling masters. I virtually only play SnD, so getting 2 shot by a tac even when I see first, shoot first, jumpshot, and connect every bullet, I still die. I'd rather have a 40 round SMG in respawn to help avoid reloading deaths or dying to multiple people, but those aren't huge issues in SnD.
