There are 2 instances (3 if you consider the enemy players) of the game running simultaneously; client(you) and servers(host).
If you lag, by the server not being able to receive packets, you will continue to get hit markers.
If you're shooting someone, and you only need 4 shots to kill, and the game lags for a bit after the 3rd hit, you will continue to hit them on your screen, getting way past 4 hits, but because it's lagging, you've only hit them 3 times. The server isn't registering the hits after.
Treyarch has proven time and time again, they are very piss poor at developing net-code.
This is correct and it does happen on occasions. It's really just particular lobbies, sometimes I'll have like 2-3 games like this before I go and find another lobby. This is a real type of lag, anyone who hasn't experience this is either one of the luckiest people alive, or is possibly to horrible to know it's happening.
