People hate it because it's a glaring example of what's wrong with developers and the gaming world. They can rehash the same game over and over and over, adding nothing to it, changing it around a little and people eat that shit up. They can charge money for things that take zero developer effort and people eat that shit up. Other developers see this and want to get on the money train and it just perpetuates a fucking god awful cycle. It stifles innovation.

Also, making millions doesn't mean a game is good. It just means there's a lot of idiots out there willing to shell money out for the same thing over and over again.

not actually sure which one was my first. it was one before bo1 when I was a kid but I didn't play enough to remember which
bo1 was the first I really put time into. fucking loved just run & gun with the famas and the Olympia
I resisted the move to bo2 for as long as possible but when I did move it was pretty fun for a long time. enjoyed it a lot until started getting hacked lobbies for 75% of my league matches
tried ghosts. was alright but definitely liked bo2 more so I never really played ghosts after the first month even though I still own it
I thought AW was going to be whack too, didn't much like the idea of exo suits but soon as I tried it I was sold. Don't really care what people think cod "should be," it is what it is and imo it's fun. At the end of the day a lot of people enjoy playing it and that's the ONLY thing that matters. Imo if people don't like it they should just go back to whatever game they do like and try to have fun, instead of being uptight asswads to everybody that does have a good time playing it.

I like AW, but to understand the frustration of a lot of people, you have to go back to when CoD was in its prime, Cod4 and Mw2. For 80-90% of people, these were their favorites because of the balance and gameplay. If AW came out, or even ghosts came out with no other CoD game existing before that, then people would love them 10x more... but Activision just tries to pile on past successes.
