As someone who also golfs, people say the same about that not being a 'sport'. I was highly into watching pro starcraft BW as well and had no interest in SC2, but those guys would game 8-12hrs/day. I'd say starcraft players, and I'm sure other pro gamers, dedicate even more time than CoD players, especially in cultures like south korea where there are actual channels that boardcast esports, similar to espn. The way I try to put myself into their perspective is when I think about twitching. I can twitch for a good hour or two into my gaming session, but I start to become lazier, check less corners, and don't think as much about routes and such over time. Being a pro means they're firing on all cylinders for much longer amounts of time.
