Please don't get an HDPVR. They suck. Just save up and get an el gato. You will be way more satisfied at the end.

I believe so, assuming it's not different from the HDPVR. You start and stop the recording with the computer software provided.

That's the benefit of the el gato compared to the HDPVR from what I've heard. You can capture your mic audio with a setting via the el gato iirc. I have a HDPVR2, plus I tend to use a webcam and blue snowball mic when I do live comms since I like to clean up the audio with audacity. I think the el gato merges your audio with the gameplay, so you get what you get. It should be fine though from my friends who use this method.

The el gato doesn't have software I believe, pretty sure it installs the drivers from the hdpv. As far as the VoiceOver you can record live in game from your headset but it will pop a lot. Best to do later commentaries if you really want to get into uploading game plays, you can get a nice mic for round 100$ for better sound quality
