Only diff between a modern 50$ headset and 200$ astros is a mix amp. They use old tech.
So does using a pair of budget headphones make you a nerd?
To someone who died because the guy obviously had them then yes, i imagine they are.
Not true. $50 = CoD4 situational sounds. $200 = MW2 surround sound with directional hearing.
My take on equipment for gaming is that you wouldn't look down on someone playing football for wearing cleats or gloves. I play on a monitor, because it has a faster response time than a HDTV. I use a scuf controller, because I like being able to dropshot and knife equally fast. I dropshot just as fast as I've always done, but now I can knife faster. I use an fps freek on my right joystick, so I can be more precise. I had decent accuracy before, but now I can make slightly more subtle movements. I use turtlebeach x41s, because I'm only hearing what's in the game. I'm not hacking the game to hear special sounds..it's in the game. Gunnar glasses aren't needed imo. I don't suffer from eye strain.
