You can hear just fine if you have the audio mode on "Soundcrunch"
Also the footsteps aren't really what your worried about in this game its all the climbing/reloading/nade throwing and you can hear it clear as day.

idk, i rarely use my gaming headsets because i just dont give a flying fuck about this game since i dislike it
