The vast majority of scientific evidence supports the idea of LDL being universally bad. It's well established that LDL is a direct cause of heart disease, artery disease and strokes. TGs are also bad but not as much. Science isnt perfect so there will be a minority of studies showing LDL isnt that bad, but most of the ppl who promote this view are on serious copium trying to justify their hedonistic unhealthy habits because foods rich in sat fats are delicious as fuck. So your cholesterol can be a little off because you eat foods rich in saturated fats despite being healthy otherwise. Smoking also worsens cholesterol but iirc it lowers HDL only. Source: im an MD.
Doctors in general dont have a differing opinion. Im from Europe and in my country they use different units, but the upper limits differ so that if ur a young healthy person your LDL limit is higher, but if you have cardiovascular risks like diabetes or high BP, then we suggest a lower upper limit for cholesterol.
Tl;dr if your LDL is elevated you need to get it lower. Lose weight if you have abdominal fat and prefer fish/plant based food (and poultry), avoid sat fats like dairy, red meat etc. Quit smoking if you do and dont use anabolic steroids.
Cool thanks
I was surprise it's high since I workout 4-5 days a week and eat a decent diet
Like 90% of my diet is vegetables, meats, fruit, nuts/seeds
Haven't eaten added sugar in about a year
Only carb source is fruit, honey, rice, and quinoa
I guess the saturated fat is getting me. I eat plenty of fatty meat, some sour cream, some fat milk
