I've heard several people talk about how building your squat will have a positive impact on your desdlift, where building your deadlift won't help your squat as much (of course it helps but the carry over isn't as significant)

What about the big presses. Ohp and bench press

Which has more carryover to the other

In what context? Everything directly or indirectly translates to bench press...

Is OHP a direct accessory movement for bench? No, not really... It's its own compound lift.

Will you see improvement with your bench as your OHP improves? Inherently, yes... But thats the general rule of thumb for strength training in general. Go watch an oly lifter bench, who has literally never trained for bench before. I've personally seen an 81kg lifter bench 285 with literally no prior experience in bench press.

TL;DR

they both inherently have benefits, but neither are optimal supplemental exercises.

What do you mean by everything directly or indirectly translate to bench ?

Say you add 50 lbs to your weighted pullup

How will bench improve

Because your back clearly got stronger, that translates to a higher bench.

I said my back got stronger how does that improve my bench

Your response was your back got stronger that will increase your bench lol

How tf does a stronger back make your bench stronger

I mean I'm sure somewhere along the kinetic chain strength almost anywhere will aid in lifts almost anywhere else but the salient issue is whether or not they're even perceptible

Do you think going from a 200 lb crush strength to a 300 lb will increase your bench ?

Do you have studies for your claims?

Are you serious about a strong back translating to a stronger bench? Albeit, a strong back isn’t going to guarantee your bench number will be high, but the correlation between upper back strength and general strength isn’t something we should just ignore. It creates a dynamic for your bench to build off of by ensuring you stay tight, scapular retraction stays in place, and a proper arch is being achieved.

A strong core ensures that you can continue to stay tight and distribute the weight of the movement through the entire body. This will also allow you to load the weight into the legs and through leg drive, it adds a new leverage to the movement. Strong upper delts improve stability through the movement of the bench. Strong triceps help at lockout, etc. all of these adjunct muscles are built through accessory movements and other compound lifts. They directly translate to a bigger bench.

Another example of this would be finding someone with a huge squat. Strong core, strong hamstrings, strong upper back. This all translates/can translate to deadlifts and bench.

If you're asking this question, you're likely so new to lifting that any exercise all the way down to calf raises will probably increase your bench.

I have not squatted for years at a time and could easily get back under the bar and still have a 405 squat just because I still deadlifted heavy.

To add to what Ozzy said, some of the best benchlifters in the world highly recommend training back.

Can’t remember his name, but he benches over 500lbs, does a laying chest supported row as one of his primary movements that he tells people to add if they’re not doing them to increase their bench.

You should probably eat more food if anything, forreal lol.

Why would asking that question make you think someone was new to lifting as opposed to just curious

Because if you had spent anytime lifting at all you would already know the answer to your own question.
