I been really into kneesovertoes guy Ben Patrick and incorporating a lot of his stuff into my workouts lately... reverse nordics and stuff you don't see fellas doing in the gym ever...
But he raves about ATG split squats. Isn't that just a fuggen lunge? Why the fancy term?

I think the main difference people make between split squats and lunges is that people think of lunges as one leg after another (usually with forward movement) , whereas split squats are stationary lunges destroying one leg at a time rather than switching legs between each rep.

But you are right, they are both lunges.

ah ha! lol
Anyway, I been doing ATG split squats both with a 135lbs barbell some days and just body weight other days. I love 'em. I like to put my front leg up on a step.
I also watched some Tom Plaatz recently, and although I can't do heavy weight yet due to a bum achilles' I started doing really high reps instead of just 5 to 10. 5 sets of 20 with just 1 plate still feels pretty brutal.
And another thing I recently added to my workouts was trying to deadhang for at least 30 seconds between sets. That grip strength.
I'm seeing a lot of improvement in my reverse nordic. I'll post a video once I complete progression. Right now I use a band to assist and on most days I can go all the way to the ground on the second set.
