Instead of cutting calories all the time would there be any benefits to eating very low calorie one day a week and the other 6 days at maintenance ?

A near 2k deficit one day a week would be over 2 pounds of fat loss a month, and you'd barely know you were dieting since you're eating at maintenance 26 or 27 days

Was thinking once a week only eating a tub of plain Greek yogurt (500 cal 100 protein) plus 4 or 500 calories worth of vegetables

nah, the next day you will feel like a zombie.

also do you think it's healthy to shock your body and nervous system like this? surely it's the opposite of.

by this logic you can just fast, I highly doubt you will be losing any muscle mass with one fasting day per week. even as natural.

Fasting and days of low calories are good for you what do you mean do you think it's healthy to shock your body

Yes. There are a large amount of studies showing upregulation and down regulation of different things like mtor ,autophagy, etc that are beneficial for longevity

Your and other people's idea that the ideal food consumption protocol for a human being is 3 squares a day with snacks is ridiculous

Humans and plants that suffer are stronger.
The more the grape you eat suffered the more resveratrol it has. Antioxidants and polyphenolic compounds in food matter you eat is the plant strengthening itself because it is struggling

You are incorrect, there are thousands of studies done and supervised by cardiologists that show fasting, even for 24 hours, or until atrophy has shown to increase healthy gut bacteria and kill bad bacteria in the gut, which in turn can reduce the chances of cancer.

As to OP, you have the right idea, if you are okay with losing 1-2 pounds a month then yes, 1x 24 hour fast a week is great, gives your body a break from digesting all that food. Our bodies aren’t accustomed to eating so frequent; that will take thousands of years of evolution
