Hey all,

Curious about what everyone has as a recovery remedy outside of just protein.

Do you like fish oil for joints? Or take capsules?

Do you load up on Tylenol and Advil?

Do you rest in an ice/hot bath?

Use rollers on sore spots even though it hurts?

Do you go hard in the nutrient/vitamin department? Omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, VitD/C Calcium?

Curious what peoples go to's are if not a mix of several things.

Anything you should AVOID that might not be so obvious?

I use foam rollers for most of my body and massage balls to roll under my feet,
percussive therapy *they got these theraguns at my gym this year they're so good*
and hot tub then ice-cold shower might be the greatest of all.
I've always been a supplement nut. I take turmeric that seems to help with soreness but probably placebo effect
I got a spoonk mat for xmas last year and i use it quite a bit. It's pretty much a plastic bed of nails. Sometimes I'll even fall asleep on it. It really is excruciating, and idk if the claims about pain management and improved circulation have any merit at all.

Hey all,

Do you like fish oil for joints? Or take capsules? Fish oil has nothing to do with recovery. Joint health is glucosamine, MSM and chondroitin

Do you load up on Tylenol and Advil? Sure, if you want liver or kidney damage.

Do you rest in an ice/hot bath? No

Use rollers on sore spots even though it hurts? For back pain or tight hamstrings I use a foam roller.

Do you go hard in the nutrient/vitamin department? Omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, VitD/C Calcium? No. Multivitamin, creatine, Calcium, Magnesium and the joint supplements I mentioned above

Curious what peoples go to's are if not a mix of several things. If it's legal in your state and you aren't a firearm owner, use either CBD oil or THC

Anything you should AVOID that might not be so obvious?

See above.

Alternating heat/cold

Cold causes vasoconstriction (shriveled up blood vessels in extremities sending blood flow back to heart/liver/kidneys for cleanup)

Heat brings fresh circulation to the extremities (vasodilation)

Easiest/cheapest way is a shower with removable shower head

This clears out waste products which cause most of your DOMS

Foam rollers are great, massage guns are better. No need for a theragun/hypervolt, it's a competitive market now and there's lots of great cheap options online. This helps rebalance muscle tension as some of your soreness comes from muscles developing imbalances (impossible to avoid if your intensity is high enough)

idk, I would argue that alcohol would reduce DOMS, at least while you're drunk!

Hah

Not sure if you're serious and I'm a social drinker, but short term alleviation of DOMS is definitely not the same as recovery
