Back story : 5 years ago, I peaked at 210 lbs 8% bf 6ft. Decided to do a cycle with lack of information, cycle went well, PCT went horribly. Got depressed, estrogen wasn't controlled, quit lifting.

fast forward 5 years of not lifting. 170lbs lost 90% of my gains.

I am wanting to get back into working out but don't have access to a gym yet.

Trying to determine whether it would be worth to do calisthenics until I can get into the gym.
Reason I haven't started calisthenics is because I don't want to affect my noob gains.

Reason for post.
If I start with body weight shit for a 6 months, will that affect my noob gains/muscle memory?
or would it be more efficient to just wait until I can get into a gym and shock the nervous system with weights/proper diet?

What are your thoughts.
I haven't started yet because of the latter.

Calisthenics are an excellent way to start things off before you hit the gym.

You shouldn't even think about noob gains or anything like that. Just focus on getting back in a routine and stay consistent. You'll bounce back fast.

Having previously trained and done a cycle, you can never actually get noob gains again.
However "muscle memory" for you should come back fairly quickly as your body is forever changed due to having done a cycle in the first place.

Also why I advocate against people doing cycles because a lot of the time they end up in the same situation as you. Do a cycle, and then stop lifting for years.

GL on your endeavors though! Sorry you weren't satisfied at 6ft 210 lbs 8% bf considering that's pretty much god tier genetics if you were able to attain that naturally.

Internet stats, there’s not many people walking around @ 210 8% REAL WORLD body fat. People try and tell me I’m 10% BF all the time IRL then try and say they’re 12-13% and I just lol.

To answer OP: Just start lifting man, weights or body weight, doesn’t matter. You aren’t going to kill any gains besides the ones you aren’t getting while not working out!

Oh I know. I just didn't want to straight up say he was lying. Even though he's probably still just ill-informed about what 8% REALLY looks like and how truly hard it is to obtain, especially at 200+ lbs. And even more so.. natural, lol.

5 years later you noob gains are over regardless depending on your age. 18-22 is when you typically peak with testosterone and if you do not lift consistently during these years naturally, you wont have a foundation of muscle for the rest of your life. So reality is, the perfect day to start working out is today, no matter what you do, to start building muscle again and changing your body composition. start increasing your protein intake to at least 1g of protein per pound of body weight per day now and when you start lifting it will need to be 1.5-2g per pound of body fat to really help you build muscle.

You want 1-1.5G protein per lb of lean muscle mass, not total weight. If you’re 250lbs and 20% body fat, you wouldn’t eat 250g-375g protein.
