Question:

Any of you ever experience very minor knee pain around the knee cap area, kinda annoying pain rather than painful, accompanied with some grinding sounds?

Story:

I do olympic weightlifting on wednesday's and saturday's and crossfit on monday, tuesday, thursday, friday.
Anyways, I did a crossfit wod Friday night, then a snatch complex saturday morning... All was good. Nothing happened, no pain, etc, etc.

I was chilling on the couch with roommates to watch college football Saturday evening, and I was sitting with my leg tucked under my other leg, and it started to get all uncomfortable and stuff. I went to readjust and get comfortable, and when I straightened my leg out it crunched and popped, all kinds of stuff...

It started hurting a little and my initial thought was, it will go away I was sitting on it weird and shit, I'm sure I irritated something.

Two weeks later and it still hurts, and it's making a weird crunching noise when I bend it; example, I drop down in the bottom of a squat and as I'm standing back up it makes a crunching noise. My other knee does too, but this is significantly more noticeable.

So I got to the orthopedic doctor Tuesday morning and they take a X-ray and say all looks good, but my knee is swollen and they say I need a steroid injection shot for all the inflammation and some follow up anti-inflammation pills.

It's been about 2 1/2 days since the shot and my knee feels better, slight pain when I mess with it and stuff, but it still makes that crunching noise when I bend it.
I've taken the last week off the gym to relax a bit. Maybe it's all the fluid and inflammation inside my knee?

Question is, any of you ever experience similar situation with the knee before, slight pain and making crunching or grinding noise?
Everything I read online about the symptoms I experience hints towards meniscus tear possibly but my doctor acted like that wasn't an issue, and bone spacing was good on x-ray.
