For those who may remember, I was very very active here in 2009-2011. Then I joined the military and that's where it ended. Long story short, I work in security now and we have physicals every 6 months. The physical consists of a bunch of relatively easy (for me) strength exercises and then 2 cardio tests which I absolutely suck balls at. We have to sprint 300 meters in under 50 seconds as well as run 3km (1,86 miles) in under 13:00. I always barely pass both. Any tips or tricks on workouts I can do to make it easier for me to pass without burning a shit ton of calories (I'm in a bulk). Thanks

In reality the amount of cardio needed to train for those two things is pretty minimal. You should have trouble training 300 m sprints and keeping yourself in a surplus.

I'm guessing you're not even doing it once a week right now. You could easily offset the burn with one additional snack in the day. I bet you train those two things 1-2 times a week you could easily continue your surplus.

I sawk the cawk at middle-long distance running. Getting into runs around 3km mark right now though and 13.00 mins frightens me, im like 2 mins off that pace. But 300m in 50 seconds is just lol. My best 400m time was 51.50


What are the strength exercises you have to do?


edit: and to answer your question: just eat slightly more that day lmao, not hard

Weighted pull ups, bench press, weighted dips, squats, plank and a few other easy-ish things.

Went from not being able to run 1km to the most fit guy in my platoon on basic training. Just did sled pushes and other stupid HIIT exercises. Could run infinite after that
