Which disc? And is that an official diagnosis? If it's a slipped disc it will also hurt like hell but it's usually a quicker (2-3 wk) recovery (assuming you have a good chiro).
Basically, if it's lower back your glutes (esp. piriformis) and hammies may tighten like a mother. Stretching the piriformis when you have mobility issues is hard as heck, so I might recommend a massage instead. As for hammies, it depends on pain tolerance. You could potentially make the stretch easier by resting your foot on an elevated surface--that way you can bend forward without bending "down"--without bending as far b/c the leg is already up. I'm not recommending anything particular b/c every disc issue is different.
I have had a variety of lower back injuries and displaced rib issues in recent years due to a bad fall w/ a concussion. If you can find ways to keep your ass and hamstrings loose and mobile you will feel less pain, but if your injury/issue is recent or could worsen, take caution. If your IT has tightened up (which can happen), you can't stretch it but you can Google "4 point stretch", which can release it a bit. If your IT is tight, it's better to roll it out if possible, because there's no way you're doing a 4 point stretch with a bulging disc unless you were a contortionist in at least 6 or 7 past lives.
You could look into cryo-heat types of creams to temporarily loosen things up, or you could pop some prescription pks. Anti-inflammatories or turmeric & fish oil can help, even NSAIDs are useful over time.

if you cant find a
real good pt they will say
stop lifting
find a sports chiro
works wonders way more than
a pt saying you need surgery
You guys kill me with the chiro love over pt.
Literally getting trained to do everything a chiro can do in pt school plus more.
