Spend the extra 30 or 40 bucks for a rogue echo.. or check out Kabuki Strength bars.

You could probably get an Ohio bar for 200 bucks if you look around.

E: nvm about kabuki

I guess just make sure that there is center knurling, since you're going cheap, it doesn't matter really.

Ok cool, was more wondering about bearing and stuff.

The northern lights bar is 44lbs and has bearings

But the progression bar doesnt talk about bearings so is it just a straight bar no spin to it? And i was told that bar was 45lbs

What would be better?

What im tryna do is get my basement gym set up and atm i just need a cheap af bar to deadlift in as the one i got atm does not work good

^ for deadlift, bearings and spin does not matter. Less spin the better.

This.

Problem with cheap bars is the knurlings suck, they're usually hardly textured.. So better chalk up son

Thats fine, I doubt ill go past 2-3 plates for my deadlifts, so grip shouldnt matter tooo much, either way a lil chalk is all good for a cheap kunt such as myself.

Appreciate the help gents

Consider fitness avenue out of London, ON if you're anywhere near them: https://www.fitnessavenue.ca/
I can order stuff from them, ship it, and still save over the competition. And so far most of the stuff I got from them still works. One bitching point: I got a rack from them with a lat-pull down & row attachment as well as a cable crossover accessory and other stuff. Beautiful beast of a thing but the f*cking late-pull down and row attachment pretty much ripped within a week.

EDIT: $160: https://www.fitnessavenue.ca/7ft-olympic-bar-1500-lbs-w-needle-bearings -- I have one of these and I think the knurlings are fine. Solid bar.
I think they have a 7' bar for $79 or $89 if you're budgeting. They also have a bar that's maybe $180 but I liked the black better.

I've had a lot of people compliment the $160 black bar in my PT studio but I won't go so far as saying it's the best bar in the universe or anything.

EDIT numero two: oh, Edmonton. Might be a stretch unless they have multiple locations or the bar is sold near you by someone else.

I hate to say it but your best bet may actually be a Rogue bar or maybe a York bar. Rogue is costly but they make some good stuff. York is I assume still affordable and decent. And classic. I have an old York bar and it's been good to me.
