So recently, literally out of no where while I was at work. It felt like someone took an ice pick and with one clean hit tapped it up into my gum where the tooth sits
The pain was so sharp and sudden that I literally just droped to 1 knee and had to hold my face in shock for like 3-5 minutes while I sat there and just waited for it to pass
after the initial pain went away I went to the mirror to see what the fuck happened, and all I noticed was that in the general area where it had happened Is a really old filling I had gotten when I was younger

so the day went on and it was sore but not that initial shooting pain and I had almost forgotten about it, then a few hours later, driving home...lol BAM there that fucking son of a bitch is again lucky I was able to just like fuckin chill knowing it would pass and just drive

but anyway, its been about a week now...lol of this same extremely random on and off pain
it doesn't hurt to touch or poke around the area, it doesn't hurt to eat or drink, or even cigarette smoke doesn't bother it
my problem is that I don't have dental or health insurance because I am an irresponsible 27 year old lol
ill probly go to an emergency dental guy soon and just say fuck it and pay out cash

but anyway, does this sound like anything that's happened to anyone here? what was the cause?

YEP. had a molar crack and a filling fall out due to being an idiot. that jolt is like an electric shotgun to the face.

it's likely you'll need a root canal, if the nerve has been damaged or is infected due to being exposed. modern root canal procedure isn't bad, takes a while but is virtually painless.

the fact you're uninsured and a smoker makes this a whole lot worse for you. just do your best to get it taken care of ASAP. unfortunately this isn't the kind of thing that gets better with time :\

ya man, honestly I'm gonna just have to eat a handful of happy pills and white knuckle that shit so I don't have to pay for anesthesia lol

A lot of doctor/dental offices have cash pricing for procedures that are wayyyyyyy less than they bill the insurance companies. Call around and ask for cash pricing imo. (Couldn't hurt)
