Going to check out a local Planet Fitness as they have a good deal on atm pricewise.
Obviously each gym will vary but are the stories you hear about PF true? such as no deadlifts, no singlets, lunk alarm etc??

Any opinions welcomed.

And fr the info am from Australia so even the rules/gym habits here may vary from US or other parts of the world.

Down here you're correct on the no deadlifts and such

But the lunk alarm thing is bogus, it's usually just a 1/2 sec alarm thingy that no one pays attanetion too. Really they're not nearly as strict as sum people make it out to be, we still have people wear stringers and carry around big ol' water jugs freely

So are there no empty bars you can load weights on yourself?

If that's the case I think it may be a deal breaker.

Negative, they have curl bars and straight bars ranging from 10-60lbs to go along with their dumbells ranging from 5-1xxlbs iirc

And that's about it for their free weights, outside of some kettle bells n such.. I'd still go and take a tour tho, the facilities are really nice (atleast ours here is, it was brand new)

Yeah I'll go for a look for sure.
And same thing here it's fairly new so should be pretty clean and good conditioned.

No barbells
Our dumbells went up to 60 lbs
Smith racks as far as the eyes can see
Encourages eating pizza and candy

Literally the biggest shit show I'd ever been a member of. As soon as I graduated from smith rack squats to free weights, I was gone.

Planet fitness Australia here

My PF has a deadlift platform etc out the back

It's ok. Like you said it's cheap so gets packed from 3pm-7pm when school and work is finished.

The planet fitness here sucks

It's more catered to the older crowd.

No deadlifts
Barbells for squats or bench
Smith machines
Dumbbells only go up to 60
Cardio machines for miles
Nice cable machine though. About the only thing I can say positive about that

Overall 2/10
