Sup y'all, so after maybe a year or 2 of working out - strong lifts 5 x 5 i stopped due to my knee having pain. Stopped working out for a couple of years and became out of shape again with my left knee having osgood schlatters now.

Any advice on what exercises i can start to do in regards to legs ? Squatting with weight is a no go because theres quite a bit of pain. I did physio for a couple months which helped and some stretches but for actually working my legs to get back in the gym exercises would help

cheers.

Is that an official diagnosis or are you just calling your knee pain Osgood schlatters because your friend told you that's one cause of knee pain?

Well, confirmed by 2 physiotherapists and one doctor. I'd say that's pretty official. And as far as actual leg exercises I wasn't recommended any. Just was told to keep up with my stretches and tendon exercises and I would be able to workout normally albeit without as much weight.

To reiterate, I'm looking for leg exercises that I can do that would help the tendon as well as work my legs so I can get back into a regular routine.

Work on your form imo. I've had osgood schlatters since my teens and still got up to decently heavy squat (500+). The thing is, I've always had it pretty severe in comparison to a lot of my peers, at least visually, in that the bumps on my knee were quite large and they'd get sore after too much physical activity. I really just couldn't run and do a multitude of sports AND also squat heavy in the same week. The sports kept my knees far too sore. But when I got some decent knee sleeves, then scrutinized my squat form, never had pain in that domain again. Good luck. Also, it's obvious, just don't actually physically hit them hard or it's acutely immensely painful.

Yea it definitely is painful in regards to hitting or banging the bump on particular, thanks for your input !

I wouldn't come to a health and fitness forum that's a sub branch to a gaming site looking for "qualified" advice. I simple came to state my situation and to see if others have dealt with the same particular circumstances that I am right now and to see what might have worked / not worked for them. In terms of you know - fitness. I'm not sure of you're angle though, because replying to a topic with no beneficial input or anything seems like a waste of your time and energy. Thank you for your concern though.

its beneficial input to you, because things that people say here may in the end cause you more pain than anything. even if someone has osgood schlatters, they can give you advice that their pt gave them but they wont really understand WHY, which could lead to pain later

fair enough, but that would be my own fault if i just blindly accepted someones input based on their personal experience with said situation. or someones general advice on said situation without first digging into it before trying it myself. based on what i did with my own therapists i know what my body is capable of and its limits as of right now, so if someone did offer advice it wouldn't automatically be applied. again i thank you for your concern and see where you are coming from. cheers
