So i noticed mostly a bunch of younger guys at my gym will walk around with bags of sour patch kids or other various candies, claiming it will help with energy

is this broscience? or is what they're doing actually beneficial?

I've never tried it yet, i'm kind of tempted to because i don't have anything to lose really, it just seems kind of ridiculous

gives a big energy boost, but very short as well

eating fruit would be a much better/healthier choice, you'll have more energy throughout your whole training instead of just a spike

Why don't you just drink 10 cans of soda each day instead? easy 400g of carbs
You will make all kinds of gains





or have some oatmeal with a banana or berries instead before your workout. up to you

My blood sugar is low (about 3.2 avg) so often eat chocolate bars or drink a soda before working out. Prob not the right thing :blush:

why would eating fructose be better than sucrose

sucrose gets digested faster than fructose, thus higher and shorter spike

at least from what I heard! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought sucrose was the lesser complex sugar of all, while fructose had to be broken a higher amount of times

sugar isn't that bad for you. still, as pre-workout sustenance, this is not efficient by any standard.

sugar as fuel really only works in endurance athlete (marathoners and gels) and even then those people have it figured out down to a science on how their body works with glucose and glycogen between the digestive tract, blood, and muscles.

whatever, hope they got dental insurance.
