So I was hitchhiking for a while and decided that was too easy, so I got a bike and now I'm cross country biking. I've been doing 50 miles a day with a roughly 40 lb backpack. First few days weren't so bad, but I just finished my 50 miles for today and my legs/back are already killing me so I know it's gonna hurt like hell in the morning. I am not in a spot where I can take a day to rest and I don't have much money. Eating protein and chugging water rn. Any tips so I don't die tomorrow?

drink lots of water
stretch really well
take breaks to stretch

and id say take it a little easier the next few days until you seem to recover a little.

I second this

Pea protein is readily available (from peas) and is fast absorbing

Can also freeze the pea's and use them to reduce swelling from injuries

Find a cold river near you and submerge your legs or take an ice bath.

Stretches are very important.
