yes, one is for wrist support and one is to prevent loss of grip.

Is it true you don't want to wear them often, as less as possible because you don't want to rely on not obtaining natural grip strength

Seems like you already know the answer. Overall Id stay away from them unless you're actually lifting heavy weight. Typically only used them on rows and deads on the last couple sets where your grip gives before your back.

Yeah that's what I heard. I see people walk around the gym with them the whole sessions, for literally like every movement

Some may have injuries or other factors that don't allow the hands to ever be able to grip the amount of weight you could lift. And maybe they do accessory lifts to help them with those issues. But in general I would'nt follow the example of them.

I have straps, any pair will work. I never use em for dls. I use them for rdls where the bar doesn't touch the ground, or those weird pull-ups with feet on the bench and a plate on your legs. Try to use them as little as possible, hook grip/over under, and double overhand your warmups

Some people also don't care about grip strength, if they're in the gym just to get big to pick up sloots then nothing wrong with using straps every set
