When I try to do hanging leg raises, my shoulders give out while I'm hanging (if they are disengaged). They hurt and then give out, feels almost like it's at the joint, but I have no clue.

If I engage in a partial pullup to do leg raises (first 5% of a pullup just to engage muscles), then it becomes a static bicep and back workout, which also wears me out while I do leg raises.

Any clue why shoulders give out quickly when hanging from a bar? I have no troubles with pullups and chinups, but just dead hanging from a bar hurts.

Always do micro lat squeeze when you do leg raises. Also, retract shoulders. You don't want to swing, and doing these will help you stabilize
