Im looking into different supps to add into my mix and Ive looked at the top pre workouts on the market, and it seems only a few ingredients are actually worth their salt -- even tending to be on the lower end of the scale for effects.

Out of everything - fact checked by examine.com among other sources - the only ingredients of value are:

Beta Alanine -- I think it was 4-6g per serve for maximum effect
Taurine - 500-1200mg per serve
Caffeine - 5mg per kg bw - seems excessive, most pre have ~175mg total


Green Tea Extract - May have some fat burning affects, but very minor -- also good for cancer prevention but has poor uptake unless in vitro
L-Tyrosine - Useless
BCAA - Useless if already consuming mod-high protein daily
Citrulline Malate - Useless
L-Theanine - Useless
All Other Random af Fillers - Useless



Is Guarana any good? Some pre workouts have it but just as many dont. Is it only good for its caffeine contents or?

Anyone have a better understanding of these stimulants, and/or tried to make your own preworkout?

Are you looking for mental stimulation?

For clean mental stim I like:
- Caffeine
- Acetyl L-Tyrosine (I wouldn't write off Tyrosine, specifically Acetyl L-Tyrosine)
- Acetyl L-Carnitine
- Theanine (I haven't tried theanine yet but I have a bit coming from PowderCity)

For pump:
- Citrulline malate (6g)
- Agmatine sulfate (500mg-1g)
- glycerol powder (5g) or vegetable glycerin

I would also take a b-complex (like Jamieson's B50), or individual b vitamins (mainly for b6 & b12). Betaine, taurine too.

A few things I considered but took off my own list:
- DMAE
- hordenine
- synephrine

Dirty stim ingredients that work but idk if they're worth it:
- Noopept
- DMAA

or can you add it to something like apple juice to mask it.

Just pick your favourite premade pre workout and add ur extras

I add extra creatine, extra beta alanine,

Ya I add bout half a teaspoon extra of creatine, and about 1/5th teaspoon extra alanine

You can buy bulk dmaa online.

Dmaa has a gross crash and could be dangerous past 75mg. Kind of like ephedrine I guess idk.

I like the stuff I chose. If my budget was bigger I'd get some extras but shit works.

Tastes good mixed with lemonade or anything flavoured. Citrulline makes it tart so best to start with a non tart base.
