It's not going to heal when you ice it and use anti-inflammatories.

What the fuck does an 80 kg banana bunch look like LOL

Okay let me rephrase. It isn't the optimal way for it to heal.

The only way for your body to heal is through inflammation. Why would you stop that process?

Ice leads to vasoconstriction in that area, slowing down the process of healing. A lot of athletic trainers aren't using ice anymore to get their athletes back to playing.

icing / heating off and on is the way to go no?
removing the blood and forcing it back into the area multiple times is effective or so my smarter more anatomically gifted friends tell me.

A few of the physical therapists I've been with aren't huge fans of ice and the athletic trainers at the University at Buffalo, a D1 university, don't use ice.

My theory of athletic injury class is actually taught by one of those trainers and he went on for almost a whole class how ice is basically bullshit.

I'm not saying that ice isn't beneficial in any way. There definitely are some benefits to using ice, but it does slow down the recovery process. Well that's what they are starting to believe in their field.

Also heating doesn't get deep enough to promote healing.
