Hi everyone. Im fiarly new to the working out scene. I have a 4 way split i follow throughout the week.

Back, Bicept
Chest, Tricept
Sholders, abs
Legs

With 10 minutes of level 4 stairs everyday i go to the gym.

My diet is mostly brown rice, back beans, chicken, eggs, veggies. Try to get a protiene drink in afyer working out and in the morning. I drink soda and go out to eat from time to time.

My biggest gaol with this was to loose weight and gain muscle. But for some reason in the past 2 months, since ive started eating differently and doing the protiene.... ive gained 40lbs. Its not fat due my clothes gettig smaller and smaller.

What could cause this weight gain? I doubt 40lbs of muscle in 2 months so what is going on?

You're at a caloric surplus. The only way to gain weight.

Just because you're eating food that most people consider "healthy" doesn't mean you can't gain weight.

Yes. The amount of meals you have a day doesn't really matter. 5 meals of 500 calories is the same as 10 meals of 250 calories or 1 meal of 2500 calories.

Some of the weight gain is due to muscle gain, but it definitely isn't close to the 40 pounds you gained.

Kinda weird, you sure when you checked the balance was adjusted? Gaining 40 pounds in 2 months even for a beginner I don't see that possible

Caloric surplus, sedentary lifestyle, not pushing yourself in work outs, the fact that you say 10 mins of stairs kinda just hints it
Find yourself a hobby like long hikes or playing basketball that requires you to move a lot and burn more energy

Could be a tumor.

Weight gain includes:
- more food going through your system
- more water weight (drinking more, sweating more, retaining more overall)
- beginner muscle gains
- fat gains
- idk what else I'm not an expert

If you're retaining 10lbs of water more, possibly up to 10 pounds of muscle (optimistic but depends on where you started from), and any range of fat (could be a lot 20+ pounds), maybe a few pounds of extra food through your body?

Usually a weight difference that big is odd, but you said you used different scales.

Did you weigh yourself when you were 'empty' meaning no food in you (at the beginning) and then when you had drank lots of water/eaten (the second time you weighed yourself)
