i recently got a soda brand called zevia cause was on sale and wanted to try it just because. it tastes like shit. all diet sodas do. i dont really drink soda too often. but i remember a long time ago i got stevia sugar packets for my tea. i hated the taste of stevia and this soda.

but i looked up stevia online and seems its banned in europe i think? or somewhere. and theres some crazy concerns about it?

some sites mentioned that the body will increase insulin levels in diabetes patients when they consume stevia. as if the body thinks it needs sugar or something.

and its possibly a carcinogen or can cause the body to produce weird chemicals when it breaks it down?

seems sketchy. tastes horrible. maybe its also not good for the body?

whats all of your thoughts on this?

curious about vivilol and cloudkicker. but whoever else has input lets hear it

and balla if hes lurking lol

raynor recommended stevia so i use it. the main concern is companies mix it with other things, often xylitol to cover up the aftertaste. but the sugar alcohol reacts poorly in my body, so i have to be careful about which i buy.

keep in mind stevia is significantly sweeter than sugar, so they often add a "bulking agent" to make it easier to measure out.

fwir, since it isn't 100% natural or whatever, it's harder for the body to break down and thus, in the long run is worse for you. who knows wtf that means tho

kinda like that shit aspartame, unnatural, harder for the body to break down than pure, 100% natural cane sugar, with a side of possible cancer

Sugar is also super detrimental to health so sweeteners are really safer for the most part. Dunno bout stevia but it seems sketchy indeed from what i recall. Research and tests will tell.

It's partly true that they're harder to break down, but then again the amounts are minute compared to the amount of sugar they would substitute. Quantities matter more than qualities.

Lol.

Look at it this way.

If it's not sugar, what the fuck is it? How is it broken down in your body? What are the metabolites, possibly toxic?

From wikipedia:

"Stevia extracts and derivatives are produced industrially by many companies, and marketed under many trade names."

Laughable. Corporate shit. Not even tin foil hatting, but if it's not sugar, and if it's not butter, then I can't believe it's gonna fuckin kill me.

Just use brown sugar imo.

one ounce of water vs one ounce of snake venom. both are small but ones much more dangerous to drink... u never know how toxic something is based on amount

Why not just avoid it all? I drink water, coffee or milk 99.9 percent of the time.

If the only sugar you have is in your coffee (as long as it's only like a tsp or two) don't worry you'll be fine.
