I'm no expert but I'd guess you strained your medial patellar retinaculum. If you do any calf raises does it hurt or only after squats? Leg extensions should aggravate the region too. See if you can recreate the pain during an exercise or if it's only afterwards. If after like you mentioned in the original post, I recommend postworkout static stretching. My guess is that it's tightening up too much and when you walk it causes discomfort.

When you squat and bend the knee sounds like a tight tendon. Try extending the leg and massaging the region. Using essential oils will help alleviate any aggravation.
