In terms of gaining any mass or maintaining current physique this is impossible to follow however. (This is how i feel about it, they mentioned that their total protein consumption was about 7-9% if i remember right).
TLDR : if you are a gymrat you still got to eat protein. If you're obese and wanna do a heavy cut you might consider protein restricted diet with BCAA intake track? (keeping in mind you won't make gainzz)

So it's like a breaking news in dietary science?

they just take turns ganging up on different macros to try and pin the blame on something for making everybody fat and diseased and accelerating aging. the simple fact is that people just eat too much, and exercise too little. eat a little bit of everything, get enough sleep, practice good mental health and exercise hard regularly, this is the key to life

Protein-restricted (PR), high-carbohydrate diets improve metabolic health in rodents, yet the precise dietary components that are responsible for these effects have not been identified. Furthermore, the applicability of these studies to humans is unclear.
