Starting to do deadlifts again. Just based on things I've read from my own research, my start looks fine, but during my set it seems I lose that vertical line from my shoulder blade to bar to mid foot.

I also let my quads guide the bar down. I'm not sure how to avoid doing this. Also I know I shouldn't be looking in the mirror. It seems like my stance is too far forward.

Another thing is I feel like I'm using my back too much. I didn't feel it in my legs or butt at all. Is this cause it's the first time doing it in a while?

That was great! Pretty much what I've seen on the internet, but the part about resetting was really interesting. Was he exaggerating by stepping away from the bar to reset at 13:40?

i don't think he was.

if you're really keen on your form/skill acquisition, i think he's quite serious.

it depends on whether you're avoiding ssc, i.e., whether or not you want to do it exactly right or work from momentum.

i imagine the idea is that if you're competing in the deadlift, you probably want the focus and set up he is suggesting because you want to get it right every time, and in competitions you're not generally looking to out-rep the other guys. it's also safer with heavier weights.

i haven't encountered his "vertical jump" distance set up before but it makes sense because again it's about getting into place the same way each time.

nice video.

Pick a trainer or in shape person at the gym and ask them to critique your form. Tis the best way. That way you can focus on the exercise and they can focus on your form.

Typos.
