I've got a $300 ebay gift card that I bought off my friend for $200. I'd like to buy a mountain bike with it and not go over the $300. I'll just be doing some trail riding and going for local rides on pavement. Can anyone recommend a bike that would be the best bang for my buck in my price range?

What size should I get? Idk where to start.

(I already know that I'm not going to be getting a "good" bike for this price... But I'm no Dave Mirra lol)

If you have a local bike shop, see if you can get measured up for the right size frame for you. From there, you can search bikes by frame size, and see what fits your budget.

Get a BMX bike and go hit jumps.

There's no other cardio like riding your racing bike on the streets. Fixed gear and you aren't sitting down. I raced BMX for years. If I still did it competitively maybe I wouldn't be fat

GT's were legit, I always liked them. I rode a Schwinn Predator Limited Edition. My homie was a true bad ass and traveled on a national level. He rode an ELF, when I was in 3rd grade I could pick the bike up w/ my pinky finger and literally throw it 10 feet. Carbon fiber wheels, thing was nuts.

Yeah I didn't do anything too extreme like that lol. Mainly just building dirt jumps and small downhill tracks in the woods to race friends or my brothers.

...for BMX??

I haven't followed BMX bikes for a hot minute; didn't realize the tech had advanced that much. (At least, the tech used on BMX bikes.) Craziness.
