DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION:
The Power Wheel (pike, knee-up, and roll-out), hanging knee-up with straps, and reverse crunch inclined 30 degrees not only were the most effective exercises in activating abdominal musculature but also were the most effective in activating extraneous musculature.

Better start doing it then son.

I didn't realize that the graphs didn't have what they were measuring and it's too late to edit.

Upper rectus abdominis muscle EMG activity

Lower rectus abdominis muscle EMG activity

Internal oblique muscle EMG activity

really not a fan of surface emg. theres not a lot you can quantify from it and you sure as fuck cant put electrodes over the obliques and determine whether your signal is coming from the external or internal layer. this is an example of a really shoddy emg study imo. i dont really like their normalization (though there isnt much else you can do to normalize so at least they made an effort). you can calculate all the relative rectified emg values you want, but its not so accurate as to say x muscle is 46 percent active whereas y is only 32.
