You ask someone for a very light lift off on bench, just using their index fingers, and u specifically say plz don't spot me. They over under that bar rip it up so now you have to reach to hold onto the bar, rip back tightness. Then on your first rep they start putting their fingers under the bar and push it up to help u. this is why u use a dummy spot first. call that sucker over to spot you on a 70% 1rm set and see if he is worthy to spot u on the 90%1rm

I have the safeties set up so I can fail a rep safely, I just don't wanna waste energy on the lift off.

I had someone ask me to spot them on a seated Lat Pulldown.

He could not move 150lb at all by himself, so I determined in my head A) He shouldn't be doing this and B) I shouldn't be helping.

After I assisted him (6 reps) he asked if I applied pressure, I said yes quite a bit actually. I was then given a lecture and a demo on how to properly spot someone performing this exercise.

I proceeded to pump out 12 reps at his weight and walked away.

tfw you not really alpha

pls no warn

Some guy asked me to lift 110lb Dumbbells so he could get in position on these funky shaped adjustable benches my gym has. I purposely picked it up by the grip instead of the ends. Hard to hand something off to someone when you're holding it where they're trying to grab it. "YOU WANT A SPOT TOO?" I yelled at him with my headphones on. Guy never even looked at me again.

Look big, act retarded. Works every time.
