The number of reps I do on the next set is often less than the previous set.
Why do we call it 3x8? Do people really make sure they do 3x8? The way I do it is I go to max reps till failure and well when that happens, the next set is gonna have less reps till failure.

Is it better to do 8,7,6 than 3x8 (Meaning the weight is less?)

._.

idk bro ill do 4-7 sets of the same weight if it feels good. and keep the reps the same.. then ill lower it and do more sets and lower and do more and so on.. sometimes i do like 15 working sets of the same exercise.. not always but when it feels good i do for sure. pyramid training is where it at. work your way up and then back down.

Total volume should be your first priority. Intensity comes second.

Stop going to failure. Leave 1-2 reps in the tank

I concur!

Lower the weight OP until you can get 3 sets of 8 with the weight. IMO if you stay above 5 reps you're good.

Every consistent rep scheme is a lie because you''re supposed to go 100% intensity every set, yes.
