Right then: we all know it's the language of noobs and laymen, and we all know it's used as a marketing gimmick.
Does anyone know when / where "toned" was first used as a fitness buzzword?
Hoping that if we can understand where / when it was first used in the context it usually is, we can finally put it to f'kn rest.
Definition: The normal state of elastic tension or partial contraction in resting muscles (in regards to fitness). After some shitty research it looks like the idea of being "toned" or looking for muscle definition goes all the way back to the slave trade and originates around the 15th century.
