Long story short, over the last couple months i have really gotten back into deadlifting. (not for a meet or anything, just because well, i to like deadlift?)

set a goal for a 650lb deadlift over the next couple years

currently my gym shoes are some busted nike's with horrible support and are made for running.

stuck between Converse, (anyone like lifting in these? i hear a lot of people default to these and never have problems.)

or some more serious lifting shoe's by Reebok/addidas or something.

Has anyone felt wearing lifting shoe's has truly benefit them over wearing something as simple as converse or some shitty nike training/running shoes?

Been lifting for around 11 years now, and i guess all this marketing is getting to me, and i really haven't met anyone who has really used them. (except one kid who said he hit his 315pr deadlifting wearing them, as if they were magic, felt like maybe it was a bit of a placebo for him.)

and as for a belt i am currently using a pretty plain generic lifting belt

^

this is the exact one.

^

currently have my eye on this really nice one from Rogue

anyone around here ever felt like it was truly an upgrade to move from the generic belt, to a belt more tailored to powerlifting?

An inzer or titan belt will be a day and night change then ur povety belt

Deadlifting barefoot / in socks is probably the best. Otherwise a flat shoe (like the chuck tailors) will do fine

You dont want to use ur running shoe, firstly they compress under weight which will aborb some of the force output, and they will rock you forward which you dont want

Also why stop at a poverty 650 lb DL, go for 660 for a nice even 300 kg

Pull barefoot. Save $ on shoes if all you're gonna do is pull in them and don't need them for other stuff.

I have and their belts do look very nice, but i was debating mainly between the rogue 10mm or 13mm. I dont think i want a level belt, i think i want a single prong belt.

Lmao yea my belt is a poverty belt isnt it, 650 just seemed like a reasonable goal for me considering my last prs. I think i might go with some converse and upgrade my belt.
